Lewis Awarded TIs In Downtown Portland
Portland - Lease Crutcher Lewis was recently awarded contracts
to perform tenant improvements to three downtown Portland
spaces. Lewis will build out new locations for PacifiCorp,
Washington Mutual and KPMG.
Lewis' build-out of PacifiCorp's new office in Gerding/Edlen's
Brewery Blocks development, valued at $1.1 million, was scheduled
for completion last month. The one-and-a-half-floor project
in Block Four will provide PacifiCorp with 31,476 sq. ft.
of space and features suspended glass art and upholstered
wall panels. GBD Architects of Portland provided design services
for the space.
The fast-tracked, 45-day build-out of Washington Mutual's
new Home Loan Center on the ground floor of the Hilton Executive
Center started in late June and was completed last month.
Components of Lewis' $200,000 project include demolition of
existing finishes; mechanical, electrical and plumbing modifications;
and new ADA restrooms, data room, casework, flooring, doors,
paint and a custom-designed catwalk. Interior Architects,
PC of Costa Mesa, Calif. was the project architect.
KPMG chose Lewis to build out its new three-floor space in
the Wells Fargo Tower using a qualifications-based selection
process. The 42,000-sq.-ft. class A office will allow KPMG
to consolidate operations into one location. It currently
serves clients from two offices: one in Columbia Plaza, the
other in the Pacwest Center. Lewis' 10-week, $2 million project,
designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects, of Houston, Texas with
local assistance from GBD Architects and Gluemac Engineering,
begins in October.
J.E. Dunn Awarded U.S. Courthouse
in Eugene
Eugene - The Portland office of J.E. Dunn Construction recently
announced the award of the construction contract for the Wayne
Lyman Morse United States Courthouse here. The Northwest/Arctic
Region of the U.S. General Services Administration has awarded
the firm a Construction Manager as Constructor (CMc) services
contract.
The new U.S. Courthouse will be 267,000 sq. ft. within a
four-story steel and concrete structure. The estimated $70
million construction project will include six courtrooms and
chambers along with space for the U.S. Marshals Service and
court administrative offices. The building features an exterior
surface of zinc panels and incorporates the latest security
measures for federal courthouses. The three-story interior
atrium will serve as a beacon for the building.
The design premise for the new U.S. Courthouse in Eugene
is a desire to recall the formal simplicity of the historical
one-room courthouse on the Town Square. The architectural
team of DLR Group, with offices in Portland and Seattle; and
Morphosis, located in Santa Monica, Calif., is currently finishing
the design of this new federal courthouse.
J.E. Dunn Construction brings to the project past experience
on two government projects in Eugene; the Lane County Juvenile
Justice Center and Adult Corrections Facility Remodel. The
general contractor will be providing preconstruction services
to GSA and the DLR/Morphosis design team during the final
stages of design completion.
Construction is expected to start in late Fall 2003 and is
estimated to take 24 months to build. At its peak, the $70
million project will employ over 150 craft people.
New Daycare Facility Completed in Portland
Portland - In Line Commercial Construction (Aloha, Ore.) and
Mahlum Architects (Portland, Ore.) recently completed a project
that gives the children at Providence Health System's daycare
center a new home away from home.
The daycare center was moved to vacant space at Providence's
main complex at Mt. Angel Benediction Nursing Center. The
In Line/Mahlum team designed and built-out the existing space
to meet the needs of the 43 children using the facility.
Work to the building included the addition of safety doors,
exit signage and sprinkler systems. In addition to code regulations,
the area was designed to provide the facility with flex space
for a variety of play, sleep and classroom instruction. The
fenced-in playground sits adjacent to the senior citizens'
outdoor seating, providing seniors with the opportunity to
watch the kids at play.
In-kind donations were provided by In Line and Mahlum, as
well as Baxter & Flaming, Don Rhyne Painting Company, Floor
Factors, Inc., Fullman/Kinetics, Gohman Mechanical, Inc.,
Rick's Fencing, Marshall Building, K&R Landscaping Maintenance
and Oregon Electric.
